LCMSD COVID Update 12.17.20
Dear LCMSD Community,
As we approach Winter Break, we have a few important reminders for you. Our goal is to keep students, staff, and our community safe, but this takes all of us working together. Your actions impact the students and staff in our learning community. We’ve made it this far and our LCMSD data reveal that collectively we are keeping our schools safe. Let’s keep that trend going! On behalf of LCMSD, we wish you a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season.
Brett Geithman, Ed.D.
Below are important district updates:
Reporting COVID Positive Cases
If you or a household member tests positive for COVID, please inform us immediately using this email: email@example.com Even when we are not at school, we are not outside the exposure window and it is important that we have this information in a timely manner.
Additionally, if your household has a positive, please be proactive in your contact tracing and begin informing potentially exposed individuals.
Winter Break Re-Entry Plan
School will resume in-person instruction on Monday, January 4th
Curative will be offering testing in Marin five days a week beginning on December 21, 2020. (book here). Check back often as more and more appointment time slots will be added.
It is our expectation that families who are unable to follow the Stay at Home Order will
1) quarantine for 10-days following the risk activity they engaged in; or
2) may enter after day 7 with a negative test performed on/after day 5 (diagnostic molecular rt-pcr tests only) and remain asymptomatic.
Students will be permitted to live stream into their classroom. Fill out this form if you travel or gather. If we learn that a student has traveled/gathered within 10 days and arrives at in-person learning, they will be sent home and parents will need to select one of the options listed above.
Live Stream is different from Distance Learning! During live streaming, a student is observing the classroom through a camera/speaker via Zoom. The teacher checks in with the student as often as they would with any other student. This requires independence on the student’s part or adult support.
Please sign this pledge to keep our schools safe and open
We will follow the Stay at Home Order
We will not host or participate in gatherings
We will remain local for winter break
If we must travel or engage in risk activities we will quarantine for 10 days or test 5-7 days afterwards, and not attend in-person school during the quarantine/testing period
As Governor Newsom states, “Hope is on the way.” Dr. Geithman is part of the MCOE Vaccination Task Force that has been meeting with Drs. Willis and Santora regarding the vaccine rollout and plans. As information becomes more and more concrete, details will be shared with the community. In the meantime, here is a video of Dr. Willis discussing the vaccine arrival in Marin.
CA Notify Cell Phone Setting for COVID
CA Notify is a setting that needs to be enabled on your cell phone that will notify you if you've been exposed to COVID - please check it out!
Thank You Town of Corte Madera and Central Marin Police and Fire
Through the Town's generous donations, 153 LCMSD families received $100 gift cards to Andy's Market. The Central Marin Police and Fire generously donated 115 - $25 to $35 gift cards to Target, Best Buy, iTunes, and Gamestop. Additionally, 11 of the Corte Madera families also received $25 gift cards to local restaurants, Stefano's and Cafe Verde. Thank you Town of Corte Madera and Central Marin Police and Fire for supporting our LCMSD families!
The Board held their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, December 14; the agenda can be found here. The LCMSD governance team has been meeting in-person since the return of school, except when members are required to follow Test or 10; Zoom links are posted for attendees. Thank you Trustee, Sasha Morozoff for your leadership, vision, and dedication to the LCMSD community throughout one of the most challenging times in our district’s history. Leadership is challenging enough, but leading through a pandemic is monumental. We appreciate your service and commitment to student and staff safety and wellness. Sasha was celebrated during the meeting and Trustee Annie Sherman was sworn in. Additionally, Trustees Jill Sellers and Sarah Mueller were sworn in for another term. Welcome Annie and thank you Jill and Sarah for continuing your service and leadership in LCMSD. The Board elected officers (Jill Sellers, President; Katherine Chan, Vice President; Monica Cañas, Clerk) and made committee appointments. Trustees were presented with a COVID update and LCMSD curriculum team updates. A pension resolution, the first interim budget, and the LCFF budget overview for parents were approved. The Board also held a workshop on December 17 to conduct a self-evaluation.
Congratulations Cove Teachers Kristin Hancock and Amy Holst!
Ms. Hancock and Ms. Holst have recently completed their National Board Certification - this is a huge accomplishment (and is a major undertaking!). We are so proud of them and their dedication to continuous learning.
