Trustee Appointment, Important Parent Meetings on COVID Protocols, COVID Vaccination Data, Summer Travel, and Independent Study
Dear LCMSD Community,
I hope you are enjoying these long summer days - beaches, hikes, bike rides, sunsets - we are very fortunate to live in Marin.
As we make our final preparations for the 2021-22 school year, I wanted to share these time-sensitive district updates with you.
Brett Geithman, Ed.D.
On August 10, 2021 at 5:00 (Zoom Link; passcode - lcmsd) applicants for our vacant seat on the Board of Trustees will be interviewed. The Board will deliberate and possibly make an appointment. Interviews will be held via Zoom and open to the public.
IMPORTANT PARENT MEETING: COVID PROTOCOLS
Marin County Public Health has revised their COVID school guidance in association with the most recent CDC and CDPH guidelines. We have scheduled two meetings on August 16th to review these updates. If you cannot attend either, we will also record them and post the video and slide deck on our COVID Plan Website (currently under revisions).
Many updates were issued today. We appreciate your patience as we update our COVID Response Plan website. Our goal is to have it updated by August 16th.
COVID-19 VACCINATION DATA
As mentioned in my July 1, 2021 update, you will not need to submit COVID-19 vaccination records for your student. The exception is if they were vaccinated outside of California; otherwise, we already have your child’s COVID vaccination status.
Curious about our COVID vaccination rates? Here is our LCMSD breakdown (note, these data reflect this snapshot in time).
Staff Fully Vaccinated (includes regular substitutes and contracted personnel): 162/166 (97.6%)
Hall Middle School Students Fully Vaccinated
- Total student body registered: 280/479 (58.7%)
- 7th and 8th graders: 277/336 (82.4%)
- 6th graders: 3/143 (2%)
Today, the Test or 10 Decision trees (Fully Vaccinated Decision Tree and Unvaccinated Decision Tree) were updated. Prior versions detailed travel and gathering information; however, the new Decision Trees do not; therefore, mandatory travel quarantines will not be in effect. Please note, we will not provide live stream for those who decided to quarantine after travel.
Per AB130, school districts must identify an independent study option for the 2021-22 school year. District options can be to provide their own independent study program, contract with a County Office of Education, or have an interdistrict agreement with a district providing a program. LCMSD is pursuing an interdistrict agreement with a district providing a program. Detailed information will be sent out shortly. Optional parent conferences regarding independent study may also be requested via Mary Anne O’Keeffe (email@example.com). This information will also be posted on our website once the interdistrict agreement is finalized.
