Updated COVID Health Guidelines, Test or 10 Quarantine Update, Post-Travel Reminder, and Coyote Sighting
Dear LCMSD Community,
Today Marin County Public Health updated the 32-Point Plan for Site-Based Instruction. This includes the transition from a 10 day to a 5 day isolation period when testing positive. The updates go into effect on January 5, 2022. Below is a summary of the updates:
#8 Schools will partner with public health to provide equitable access to testing. Remember, report all school issued test results here.
#9 All schools should follow updated California Department of Public Health (CDPH) COVID-19 Public Health Guidance for K – 12 Schools. Isolation can end after day 5 if fever free for > 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine, symptoms improving, and negative COVID test on day 5. Marin County Public Health protocols, including modified quarantine and test to stay (TTS), should be followed.
The LCMSD procedure for re-entry after testing positive for COVID will be:
#18 Large gatherings > 50 persons (i.e., school assemblies) are currently prohibited indoors and outdoors.
#24 School staff should wear surgical grade + masks. If physical distancing is not feasible, except when eating/drinking, masks should be worn outside. For LCMSD, students will be asked to wear masks outdoors when gathering in close proximity to one another. If they are spread out and/or playing, outdoor masking will not be required.
#29 Volunteers should be vaccinated and boosted. Volunteers must check in at the main office to show proof of booster.
#30 All eligible students and staff should be vaccinated and boosted.
#31 Indoor sports games and practices should not allow spectators until further notice.
Test or 10/Quarantine Update
Unvaccinated and booster-eligible, but haven’t received booster, must quarantine for 5 days when exposed. Quarantine can end after day 5 if no symptoms are present and testing is recommended on day 5. Fully vaccinated and boosted (if eligible) do not need to quarantine if exposed. A new decision tree will be issued shortly.
On December 13, 2021, CDPH issued a new travel advisory effective immediately to recommend that all travelers arriving in California test for COVID-19 within three to five days after arrival, regardless of their vaccination status.
On a non-COVID Issue . . . Coyote Spotted
There has been a coyote present on Holcomb Street bike path recently. Police have been notified, but please use caution if your children take this path.
