Dear LCMSD Community,

As many of you know, we had two elementary music vacancies at the end of the school year. Due to timing, as well as the overarching challenge of teacher shortages, we decided to approach these vacancies as an opportunity to explore additional innovative programming. So, while we advertised for music, we also advertised for other positions as well: drama and/or musical theater, makerspace (robotics, engineering, and coding lab), science and wellness (garden ecology), and elementary Spanish. 

We are excited to announce that we have hired Ari Gorman, an outstanding music teacher who will be teaching at both Cove and Neil Cummins. Additionally, we are thrilled to welcome back Ann-Marie Skaggs as a highly-skilled Makerspace (robotics, engineering, and coding lab) teacher for both Cove and Neil Cummins. To round out these exceptional student experiences, we are also fortunate to have Alan Scofield providing dance instruction with meaningful integration of music and content standards for Cove and Neil Cummins. Below is the schedule:

• Music with Ari Gorman: grades 3-5 weekly for the year; grades K-2 will participate in a trimester of music on a weekly basis
• Makerspace with Ann-Marie Skaggs: grades K-2 weekly for the year; grades 3-5 will participate in a trimester of makerspace on a weekly basis
• Dance with Alan Scofield: grades 3-5 will participate in a weekly lesson for 7-10 weeks total

All of this is possible due to parent and community donations to the SPARK Foundation. LCMSD students are extremely fortunate to have generous donors and a dedicated group of fundraisers to support these exciting programs. Thank you SPARK!

We are confident that these programs will be very successful in providing rich experiences for our elementary students. Welcome Mr. Gorman, Ms. Skaggs, and Mr. Scofield!
