It is exciting to share that on June 18, 2024, the LCMSD Board of Trustees approved Harrison Blatt as the new Assistant Principal. After a rigorous selection process, Mr. Blatt rose to the top and was ultimately recommended to join the LCMSD leadership team. Below you will find his bio. Congratulations Mr. Blatt and welcome (back) to LCMSD!

Harrison Blatt is honored to serve as Assistant Principal at Hall Middle School and Neil Cummins. As a graduate of Neil Cummins Elementary, Hall Middle, and Redwood High, he is exceedingly grateful for the opportunity to serve his home community in the vitally important work of educating, inspiring, and uplifting all children. Through various school leadership roles, Mr. Blatt has led with a focus on social justice, instructional excellence, community building, and joy.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience from Brown University, Mr. Blatt joined Teach For America where his training was rooted in equity, culturally responsive teaching, and authentic assessment of student growth. Mr. Blatt served at Kennedy High School in Richmond, CA where he taught chemistry for six years and expanded his role to include instructional coaching, professional development leadership, and teaching courses in physics and engineering.

Mr. Blatt attended the Marin Leadership Institute (partnered with San Francisco State University) where he earned a Master's Degree in Education Leadership. Most recently, he served as Vice Principal at Berkeley High School for three years where he led the Science Department, the Visual and Performing Arts Department, and Berkeley International High School (a small learning community housing the International Baccalaureate Program serving six hundred students).

Mr. Blatt believes that schools can and should be the heartbeat of the community, where children and families look for support, fun, and interconnectedness. It is this belief that drew Mr. Blatt back to his home community and motivates him to lead, striving for excellence and always putting students first.
