LCMSD COVID Update 3.31.21
Dear LCMSD Community,
Spring represents new beginnings and progress. This year we’re seeing an abundance of hope as we’ve come a long way since last year! All staff are close to being fully vaccinated, our volunteers are being vaccinated, community spread is lessening, opportunities for athletics and activities are increasing, and our schools are opening up to full classrooms and much longer days!
Even though we are seeing daily signs of progress, our actions over these next few weeks will determine if we continue moving forward. With that being said, we urge all families to continue doing their part - travel safely, if going out of state please quarantine, limit gatherings (inside and outside) to three households, and wear a mask. Together we can do this!
As we approach spring break, here are some updates and reminders . . .
Distance Learning Days
April 1 and 2 will be distance learning days so that teachers and staff can prepare our schools for the full classroom return on April 12. Your child will have a total of 60 minutes each day on Zoom and 180 minutes (120 for Kindergarten) of assignments.
Parent Meetings - Parent Guide to a Full Classroom Return
On March 30 and 31 we held parent meetings via Zoom to review important information regarding our return to full classrooms, as well as answer questions that parents might have. If you were unable to attend, below is the content and recording.
Here is the essential information regarding the return to full classes:
- No more Daily COVID Screening required (please monitor your child for symptoms and do not send to school if sick)
- Students will be socially distanced 3+feet
- Lunch will be on campus with students spaced at 6 feet
- Masks will be worn at all times except during scheduled water breaks and eating
- LCMSD issued Chromebooks will travel to and from school with students
- No drop off in the Hall loop or parking in any school lots (see slides 9-11 for details)
- No more cohort closures K-8; contact tracing will determine who needs to quarantine in the event of an exposure
- PE, art, and music will be offered mostly in-person (Hurray!)
Re-entry After Spring Break
Travel/ Gather Forms
Even though we are officially in the Orange Tier, there are still travel and gathering guidelines in place for our county. If you engage in “high risk” activities as defined by traveling out of state or gathering (indoors or outdoors) with more than 3 families for more than 2 hours, please notify your child’s teacher directly and fill out your school’s form linked above. Your child must quarantine for 10 days after the high-risk activity or get tested 5 days after and can return to school on day 8 with a negative COVID (molecular or antigen) test.
During this required quarantine time, your child will have access to live streaming. Live streaming is not available for those who travel when school is in session (outside of Apr 5-9). It is only available for mandated quarantine periods. Live stream will continue being offered to students who are on Test or 10 due to symptoms or possible exposure.
