Dear LCMSD Community,
There has been a recent update to the isolation guidelines if testing positive for COVID. Previous guidance stated that students may return on day 6 or day 8 with a negative test result. The update states that students may return anytime between days 6-10 with a negative test result.
Therefore, we have revised the LCMSD procedure for re-entry after testing positive for COVID:
Student must be fever free for > 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicine and seeing an improvement in symptoms before returning to school.
Beginning on the evening of Day 5 or early in the morning of Day 6, students will first test at home.
If the home test is negative, they must 1) send a photo of the test to the school, and 2) report to school with their parent/guardian for a confirmatory COVID test at 8:00 am (Neil Cummins - outside gym, Hall - outside gym, Cove - outside office door). If the results of the confirmatory test are negative, they will be permitted to attend school that day. If they are positive, they will remain in isolation and test again at home as early as the next day and repeat the process if the home results are negative.
Students/staff may return to school on Day 11 without a test.
Students ending isolation before day 10 are strongly recommended to wear a mask while indoors at school until day 11. Per CalOSHA, staff are required to wear a mask until day 10.
