Dear LCMSD Community,
As we approach winter break, we want to express our appreciation and gratitude for you, our students, staff, parents and community. LCMSD continues to excel in so many ways - from student achievement to safe and inclusive schools. This is all because of you, our LCMSD learning community. We hope you have a wonderful holiday and enjoy this much deserved time with family, friends, and loved ones.
Dr. Brett Geithman Superintendent
District Updates
Board Updates On December 12 the Board passed a resolution to oppose the petition for territory transfer from RUSD to LCMSD. On December 14 the Board celebrated outgoing Trustees Monica Cañas and Sarah Mueller. Their dedication and service to LCMSD was instrumental in the major successes of our schools. This includes LCMSD’s model response to the pandemic, implementation of CGI math and readers workshop, increasing English learner engagement and supports, adopting phonics and social studies curriculum, and passing LCMSD’s parcel tax with the highest level of support in district history. Mary Jane Burke, Marin County Superintendent, swore in new Trustees, Beth Blair and Natalie Medved, and incumbents, Amir Movafaghi and Eric Schmautz. Congratulations and welcome new Trustees! A public hearing was held to sunshine initial contract proposals for CSEA/LCMSD negotiations. Trustees approved the first interim budget. Additionally, Trustees were provided with an update on CGI mathematics and standards-based grading survey results at Hall. All agendas can be found here.
CGI Math Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) in mathematics is a focus area this year. Details can be found in the update on CGI mathematics presented to the Board on December 14. Additionally, we’ve held coffee chats/parent workshops on how to support your students at home. We plan on scheduling more of these in the new year; however, if you missed any this fall, all video recaps and materials can be found here.
COVID Tests Students and staff are not required to test upon re-entry from winter break. We simply wanted to provide you with additional tests this week in the event that your student is experiencing symptoms over break. Should you use the test, please scan the QR code on the box and report results, even if negative. If your child is positive, report the results using the QR code and also email covidreporting@lcmschools.org. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. |
