Dear Families,
Cove will be participating in the 9th Annual Global School Play Day (#GSPD2024) on Wednesday, February 7. Students will engage in play with toys that do NOT require batteries or electricity. No devices. Teachers/ Adults don't organize anything for students, don't tell students how to play with the toys/games, and don't interfere with students unless they see something unsafe. More and more research underscores the critical importance of play in the emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of children - including this study from 2018 from the American Association of Pediatrics. Over a million kids will participate in 72 countries! At Cove, we believe in the core values of #GSPD2024 - student-directed, unstructured play is beneficial to development!
Sincerely, Michelle Walker, Principal

A huge thank you…..We could not have accomplished this without our incredible Readathon Team: Catherine Wold, Kate Kropf, Kim Adams, Sue McCauley Warren, Kristen Wheeler, Melanie Quintana, Dave Goodspeed, Sara Brooks, Rana Lozani, and Ashley Mirkovich. Most importantly, thank you COVE COMMUNITY for your support to Cove School's only fundraiser!
In other school news:
Spirit Day at Cove this Friday - wear red!

Extra Change of Clothes: Our Coyotes have been busy getting muddy on field trips, wet playing in puddles, and needing changes of clothing at school. If your student has come home in clothes from the office, please wash and return the loaned garments. Students are much more comfortable in their own clothing--please send your student to school with a full change of clothes in their backpack (top, bottoms, underwear, socks). If you have any plain, gently used clothing you'd like to donate, please bring donations to the front office.
Transforming Anxiety into a Superpower Did you miss the opportunity to hear Dr. Tracy Foose demystify anxiety this week? Check out the Zoom recording!
CoveCares: Know someone who needs some care from our school community? CoveCares is a PTO Committee that supports our Cove families and staff in times of need. Community is a critical part of our school dynamic and CoveCares is a formal team that helps show we care. Whether someone is struggling with serious life events or just needing a little extra support, CoveCares is a thoughtful way to convey we are here for our school community. CovesCares@covepto.org
