ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS / SOCIAL STUDIES CORE 7
Course Description
In 7th grade, Language Arts and Social Studies are combined in a two block class allowing for integration between the two subjects.
7th grade Language Arts focuses on writing, speaking, listening, and reading at a high level. Students will read a variety of genres, fiction and nonfiction. We will be reading novels as a class, novels of their choice, primary sources, articles on current events, and short stories. Students will improve their skills in a number of areas including public speaking,reading independently, grammar, and writing. Students will hone their opinion/argumentative writing, creative writing including poetry and narratives.
7th grade Social Studies focuses on How Medieval World History and Geography shapes our world today. Our content is world history from the Roman Empire to the Renaissance.
