• SOCIAL STUDIES 8

    Course Description

8th grade social studies focuses on the history of our nation from the arrival of native peoples to the end of the Reconstruction era in 1877. Course focuses include the American Revolution, the Constitution, and the form and function of the federal government.

Our course is thematically linked with 8th grade language arts and revolved around a project based approach to where student inquiry drives the learning process. Students work both independently and collaboratively to find and formulate answers to their questions requiring the development of 21st century skills like technological literacy, public speaking, and critical thinking.

Skills relating to the discipline of history are also developed, such as research, evaluating sources of information, and creating visuals to share textual information.
