• ENGLISH LEARNERS

English learners (ELs) receive appropriate services and support as determined by assessments and student needs. Every fall we hold meetings to develop English Learner Plans for each of our ELs. This provides specific supports based on each family’s and child’s needs. Translation services are provided whenever necessary.

English language development is integrated into the general classroom as teachers use realia and deliberate methods for vocabulary acquisition. Students at the beginning level receive extra time focused on English language acquisition through our EL support provider.

Our English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) meets regularly and encourages parents of ELs to participate actively in our school community. The ELAC team also hosts an annual picnic lunch as well as other events to foster community building.
