Important: Cove School Bus Service Discontinued for 2025–26

    Dear Cove Families,

I’m writing to inform you that the Yellow Bus Challenge will no longer provide service to The Cove School starting next school year (2025–26). This change is not a school or district decision—it is being made by the Tiburon Peninsula Traffic Alliance (TPTA) due to rising demand from Reed Union School District families, which the program was originally created to serve.

Since 2017, TPTA has provided a limited route to The Cove School. However, usage has remained low, especially for the morning route, which only served the San Clemente Apartments. The afternoon loop attracted only a few additional riders.

Due to capacity constraints, TPTA must now dedicate all buses to their core service area—Reed Union School District—and will no longer be able to accommodate Cove students.

TPTA has coordinated with Marin Transit, which offers Route 29, a public transit option that:

    • Stops at San Clemente at approximately 7:38 a.m. (15 minutes earlier than the current route)
    • Serves Larkspur and West Corte Madera as well
    • Is free for students who qualify for free or reduced lunch
    • Requires children under age 5 to be accompanied by a guardian
    • If you choose this option, please plan to ride with your child as we do not offer before-school supervision until breakfast at 8am.

We recognize that this change may be difficult for some families. While we are not involved in this decision, we remain committed to providing timely updates should anything change.

Please reach out if you have any questions.

    Sincerely,
    Nichole Urrea
