Michelle Walker is a passionate leader with a focus on innovative teaching and learning practices, continuous staff development and support, blended learning through technology, and student engagement, leadership and autonomy. She models continuous growth and collaboration on all levels.
Walker joined the Larkspur-Corte Madera School District in 2007 as the Vice Principal at Neil Cummins Elementary School. She then served as Principal at Neil Cummins until 2013.
During the 2013-14 school year, Walker engaged with staff, students and the community at large to develop the educational approach and program at The Cove School. In 2014, she was the founding principal of The Cove School. She presently remains Cove’s dedicated leader.
BACKGROUNDMs. Walker received her undergraduate degree, cum laude, in Psychology and Education from Dartmouth College where she was a member of the women's rowing team and performed with an a cappella singing group. Following Dartmouth, she earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from San Francisco State University.Prior to 2007, Ms. Walker was an elementary teacher in Mill Valley. She earned the Golden Bell and Terwilliger Awards for excellence in teaching. She also spent time overseas teaching high school in the Marshall Islands. While at Dartmouth, Ms. Walker had the opportunity to work with students from a variety of backgrounds, including inner city high school students, rural elementary students and Bosnian exchange students.
A native to the East Coast, Michelle grew up in Connecticut. As a parent of four teenage children, Michelle loves spending time hiking, baking and taking her children on adventures around the Bay Area. She has a lifelong passion for providing an enriching and engaging education for students.
